Costa Rica

We recently went to Costa Rica - I’m not sure why, but it was on my bucket list. I think it just sounded exotic & it was!

Our favorite things:

Favorite Thing #1: Monkeys & iguana’s everywhere!

Iguana’s were often seen swimming in the resort pool!

This guy was blocking the sidewalk in front of our room. Watch out if you are there in Febuary/March when it is mango season, the monkeys have fun hanging in the trees and throwing mangos at the guests.

Favorite Thing #2: They have PICKLEBALL

Several resorts have Pickleball.

We love to work off all the extra vacation calories, started early in the club lounge with coffee, fruit, catch up on emails and the news but needed to start early on the outside workouts due to the heat!!!!! It also allowed for more pool and swim up bar time.

Favorite Thing #3: $50 Beach Massages (1 hour)

All beaches in Costa Rica are public, so locals set up shop on the beaches; massages, excursions, jewelry, t-shits, etc. No need to go to the spa when you can get an hour long massage for $50. The massages were AMAZING! We got one every day!

Favorite Thing #4: Downtown Tamarindo

Vibrant downtown area with shops & restaurants.

Sunsets in Tamarindo are spectacular with incredible people and music acts.

Sunset Dinner on the beach.

Things we :

#1 Roads & Driving

The roads are not in great shape and traffic can get backed up due to lack of traffic lights and stop signs at busy intersections. At the time, cabs were our only option. Be very careful getting a cab late at night and make sure you are tracking your ride to the airport.

#2 All the Beaches are Public

All beaches are public and not owned by the hotels. The resorts have no control over what goes on at the beach. They are over ridden by vendors and locals. In some areas you just don’t feel as safe.

#3 The Excursions were a Little to0 Exotic for Us

We had intentions of doing excursions into the rain forest to see sloths, tree frogs and other exotic animals. Other guests at our resort scared us a little telling us stories about poisonous snakes, bees (I’m allergic), and wading through waste high water. Call us chickens, but we opted for hanging around our resort most of the time.
